I think the project is great! Correct me if I am wrong but at the moment, you are recording the forward and backward movements of the car and the engine status?
Do you guys plan to record more functionalities, like car speed, and if so, are you going to need an alarm when your measurement goes outside of a specified range of values? If so, how do you want to be notified?
I love the concept of GO Baby GO! Personally, I would like to see how the project would develop in the physical appearance of the vehicle.
Also, I think it would be a good idea to send alerts to the child guardian that the car is in use and the car speed. Maybe using an app that connects to the vehicle data logging info.
I love the idea of Go Baby Go! I think it is incredible to have a project that caters to the needs of children with disabilities. I love the fact that the basic car operations, like the engine’s status and the motion of the car, are logged onto an SD card. The use of the SD card makes the data readily accessible if someone should need it. I agree with Sylvester that, in the future, it would be great to have more data logged, like traveling speeds. I also think that possibly creating an app of some sort in the future would be amazing. The app would take the place of the SD card. The data obtained would be sent to a parent’s or guardian’s phone. This new functionality would open a window for possibly implementing notifications such as alarming car speeds or other abnormalities that may concern a parent or guardian.
I forgot one more idea. I know there is another discussion post about keeping track of time, and I have seen projects that use GPS modules to keep track of time. The GPS module, of course, could be multifunctional because it could keep track of the car’s location as well as the time it was at a specific location. This module would be great to implement, mostly if parents allowed their child to drive the car around in a public, outdoor environment.
